All that Breathes - Documentary Review

All that Breathes is a spectacular documentary film directed by Shaunak Sen. All that Breathes gives a new experience to us by showing us the life of two brothers, Saud and Nadeem, who devoted their lives to the rescue of birds by managing a clinic in the garage. This film gets more emotional when they showcase the livelihood and struggle behind the noble work of Saud & Nadeem. It shows us how the ecosystem of wildlife works in a densely populated urban area and how the wildlife in the urban gets to adapt to its environment for its survival and changes its course like humans.

The documentary projects us how the quality of air is decreasing in Delhi and its horrendous impact on birds & surrounding ecosystem. The raptors, birds, and animals are adapted to the environmental change in the urban ecosystem - the rapid change in the climatic condition and in the environment changed the lives of everything. The documentary also covers the social and political tension due to religious riots in the locality and how it affects their daily life are portrayed well in the film. They show the dreadful environment of urban - the film exhibits how the two brother's life is struck between their noble duty and reality. The bond between the brothers is beautiful and they projected it very well in the documentary. They left chasing their wishes and devoted their lives to wildlife rescue which is something appreciable and that is very needed for the society and environment.

Hats off to the cinematography department, they composed each of the frames close to life and the parts we just miss to see which will just be around us are framed very well. Particularly, the macro shots in the film give the finest details and depth in life. The music is very serene and gradually elevates the mood of the scenes. One particular dialogue from the film and it is worth mentioning here... "Man is the loneliest animal, trapped by speciestic difference. It's like a jail"
