No one can ever forget the disastrous flood of 2018 in Kerala and this film is an absolute tribute to the people who lost their lives. 2018 shows us the various events of people and their lives being drifted away in flood - great efforts into writing are evident as each character and their stories are given detail and importance. The film revolves around seven different perspectives of stories and each character and their stories were beautifully knotted. Pre-interval portions take their time to introduce us to the various characters in the film - it was on the flow and not adding any dullness to the screen time.

It was fresh to see Tovino as Anoop - he nailed it with a heartening performance. This film's biggest backbone is the cast - they just bundled the film with an entire star cast from the industry. Spectacular performance from everyone - Asif Ali, Lal, and Narain gave a powerful and emotional trio performance. Kalaiyarasan and Vineeth's portions ended subtly yet added value. Other actors like Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Tanvi Ram, and Sudheesh made remarkable performances within the scope. Jude Anthany Joseph's success in this film was the eminence of the filmmaking process - the screenplay was well handled and given essential elements to make it a superb survival thriller. Post-interval portions were completely based on flood & survival - with the gripping scenes the whole second half thrills us to the core.

Kudos to the VFX team, they presented a perfect & essential VFX to the film. Production design done a significant part in stunning flooded village sets. Nobin Paul justified the genre with an intense and immersive background score - fantabulous sound design adds an edge to the movie. The cinematography by Akhil George was impressive and he composed breathtaking shots. Crisp editing engages the audience with a good amount of screen time. 2018 is a must-watch movie in theatres - a perfect blend of survival thriller and drama with a gripping screenplay. It is an emotional & breathtaking experience of life & humanity.
